Best Start is the new name for Healthworks Amazing Start team.

Our Pregnancy support service offers one to one support and information to pregnant mothers and their families during their pregnancy. We are pleased to announce that we will be enhancing this service to include four Pregnancy Social Groups across the city where mothers can come to socialise and learn about pregnancy and preparing for birth and baby. We’ll be discussing topics such as baby brain development, building loving relationships, preparing for baby, relaxation, Infant feeding, preparing for labour and birth and a whole lot more.

We will also be launching new Facebook and Instagram pages called Bump Buds Newcastle which will run alongside our Breastfeeding Mams Newcastle page to offer support for pregnant mothers and their families.

Jo Jackson, Senior Manager for Pregnancy and Breastfeeding Services explains the positive impact this will have:

‘We are really excited to announce the enhancement of the Best Start service. The launch of our new pregnancy social groups is going to be a positive addition to the one to one support that we already offer to families in Newcastle. Our trained team of practitioners and volunteers will be on hand to offer information and support and this will provide a much needed opportunity to meet other pregnant women and discuss all things pregnancy. Peer support contributes towards women feeling empowered and confident in their pregnancy and birth and we are looking forward to seeing the positive impact this will have for families in the city’.

These pregnancy social groups will be taking place at the following locations beginning the week commencing 25 September.
